‘Tis The Season! To Bring the Magic of Christmas Home
‘Tis the season to be merry! This year, as life returned to normal, we all have a lot to be thankful for. For us at Ocean Homes, we’re looking forward to once again gathering with friends and family as we come together to celebrate the spirit of the holidays.
With the holidays upon us, there is no better time to sip hot chocolate by the fire, reconnect with family and friends, experience our lovely city and all it has to offer and of course relax in the comfort of your home. In an ode to Holiday Cheer, we’ve rounded up a few activities we’ll be adding to our holiday calendar this December.
Our Ocean Homes Tips to Embrace the Holiday Season:
Indulge in an Alberta Made Advent Calendar – Looking for a sweet treat to countdown the days to Christmas? Upscale your family’s advent calendar and order from Jacek Chocolate. The Edmonton based chocolate company has crafted up a gourmet kids (and adults) advent calendar for the season.
Shop a Christmas Market – Looking for a unique and local gift for those on your shopping list? Market Collective’s Christmas Market is back this December at Calgary’s BMO Center. This year, (by popular demand) you’ll be able to shop the Christmas Market on two separate weekends this month. (December 9-11, and December 16-18).
Rediscover Your Love for Christmas at Miracle on First Street: Once again, Proof Cocktail Bar will transform into a holiday themed pop up Bar, Miracle on First Street. Take a pause from Christmas Shopping and enjoy the Christmas décor as you sip a decadent Christmapolitan.
Feast on a Holiday Tea: Throughout the holiday season, the Fairmont Palliser will be hosting holiday themed afternoon teas. Create a new tradition with your family this year as you snack on delicious cookies (not made by you) at Calgary’s only Castle.
Go Skiing with the Family – Nothing says winter holidays, quite like a trip to the snow coated mountains. This holiday season, get in the spirit as you say ‘tis the Skison! For a fun family outing, take your family to the slopes of Banff Sunshine Village. Catch Santa on the slopes as he takes some time to relax pre-Christmas Rush. On Christmas Day, dress as your favorite Christmas Character and ski for less at Banff Sunshine. Every year on Christmas the resort hosts “Santa Skies for Charity,” this year all funds raised will go to support the Alberta Children’s hospital.
Say YES to the Wreath – Whether you’re a humbug or Christmas Spirit Junky, there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by adding some holiday cheer to your front door. As far as we’re concerned a Christmas Wreath is an absolute must! This holiday season, shop local and find your perfect wreath at a local flower shop, or make your own. Find a Christmas Playlist – When you built your house, you made it a priority to invest in a home wide sound system. This holiday season, deck your halls with the sounds of the holiday and find a Christmas Playlist you can sing a long to. You can subscribe to some great genre specific holiday playlists on Spotify.
Take in the Christmas Lights – Get dressed in your warmest winter wear and stroll the stunning visual display of “Zoo Lights,” at the Calgary Zoo. Zoo Lights runs nightly until January 8 th .
Write Santa a Postcard– Get your kids in on the holiday spirit and have them write a (homemade) postcard to Santa. Set the postcard crafting station up in your homes mudroom or kitchen and let them go crazy with glitter, and glue.
Upgrade your Christmas Tree – If your Christmas tree is looking tired, invest in some new ornaments to give your tree a new look. At Ocean Homes, we’re big fans of having a real Christmas Tree. After all there is something magical about the scent of a real pine tree. If a real tree is not for you, you can update the staple of your homes holiday décor by investing in a new synthetic Christmas Tree.
Now that you have our tips for getting your home into the holiday spirit, we wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! If a new home is on your Christmas Wish List, give us a call and let us help make your homes dreams come true.
